Lesson 5 - Ratios as Percent

 

Use the following interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about ratios as percent. Students can do these activities on their own or in pairs.

Solve problems that involve conversions between percents, fractions, and decimals.

Instructions for Use

Percent Review lets students model percent with a 100 grid.

To use Percent Review, click the "Reset" button to show the percent displayed on the grid. Equivalent fractions, and decimals reflect the value of the percent displayed on the grid. Click on the small pieces in the grid to automatically add or subtract pieces and change the percent.

 

Percentages lets students convert a whole into parts that are represented as a fraction, a decimal, and a ratio.

To use Percentages, input numbers in the "Whole" and "Part" text boxes. Click the "Compute" button to find the remaining quantity. Click the "Rest" button to start again.

 

Converting a Fraction to a Percent prompts students to find what percent the fraction represents.

To use Converting a Fraction to a Percent, click the "START" button. Input the numbers in the text box next to the "Check" button. Click the "Check" button to see if the answer is correct.
