CHAPTER 12: Probability

 

Spinner Explorer - Students can use this explorer instead of a spinner to practice determining the probability of an event.

To use the Spinner Explorer, follow these steps:

  1. Click "n EQUAL SECTORS" and then click on a number to select the number of sectors you want your spinner to have.
  2. Click "OK".
  3. Click the "SPIN ONCE" button.
  4. Examine the EVENT AND PROBABILITY CHART. The second last column displays the probability of an event as a decimal.
  5. Click "SPIN n MORE TIMES" and then enter the number of times you want to spin the spinner in the text box.
  6. Click "OK".
  7. Examine the chart again and notice the different data. Express the probability of each event as a percent.  
  8. Try spinning the spinner more times and observe what happens to the data.
